The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an agreement with the Government of the Italian Republic on mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses. The relevant decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday, November 17.
The government explained that the driver's license of a driver who moves to Ukraine for permanent residence is valid on the territory of Ukraine for 60 days after that must be replaced. Replacement of such certificates is carried out after a person has passed a medical examination and passed theoretical and practical exams.
In turn, Italian law after the end of the established period of driving in Italy requires citizens of Ukraine who move to Italy and want to continue driving, to exchange the Ukrainian driver's license for Italian. Currently, the order of such exchange involves passing theoretical and practical exams.
"The purpose of the agreement is to create an opportunity for citizens of Ukraine and Italy, who move to live in the state of the other side, to exchange driver's licenses according to a simplified procedure," the document says.
On July 20, a new agreement was signed in Rome between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Italian Republic on mutual recognition and exchange of national driver's licenses.
