Govt approves action plan for development of mental health protection

The Cabinet of Ministers of UKraine has approved an action plan for 2021-2023 for the implementation the Concept for the development of mental health protection for the period until 2030. The corresponding decision was made at a government meeting.

According to the explanatory note to the document, measures have been approved to address issues of raising mental health awareness in society and overcoming stigma, reducing discrimination and violations of the rights of people with mental health problems and preventing mental disorders.

Also, improving the system of formation and support of professional competencies of specialists in the field of mental health, ensuring the implementation of industry standards in the field of mental health, quality control of care in this area, development of social and psychological assistance at the level of local communities.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated funds to provide centralized oxygen supply to the bed stock of health care facilities that provide inpatient care to patients with acute respiratory disease Covid-19. 

“Given the rapid spread of coronavirus and the increasing workload in hospitals, the government continues to boost the medical system. Today we decided to redistribute $15 million to provide the bed stock with a centralized oxygen supply,” said Prime Minister Denys Shmygal.
