Government will not reduce salaries, scholarships and research funding, - Zelensky

During his video message to fellow Ukrainians, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that there would be no reduction in teacher salaries, student scholarships, and research expenses in spite of of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

According to the President, currently the ‘Big Construction’ project remains one of the priorities for the development of the Ukrainian economy after quarantine is completed.

"The Big Construction project will stimulate the development of the economy and create thousands of new jobs in Ukraine. We managed to save some of the important expenses for the development of regions, support for farmers, a cultural fund, production of Ukrainian films and book publishing, support for athletes, training of educational personnel and reform ‘New Ukrainian school’," the President said.

Besides, according to him, teachers' salaries will not fall under the reduction.

“Salaries for teachers, scholarships for students and expenses for research activities are not subject to any reductions. I emphasize that some expenses, unfortunately, are actually being reduced; but that's just temporarily and these will be surely returned after overcoming the coronavirus," Zelensky concluded.
