Government officially reports on dismissal of Naftogaz CEO Kobolev

The Cabinet of Ministers officially reported the dismissal of Andriy Kobolev from the position of Naftogaz as the government reported.

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers held a general meeting of stockholders of Naftogaz. The report of the company’s work for 2020 was considered.

“Net consolidated negative income of Naftogaz group in 2020 made 19 billion hryvnias ($683,854,650). Meanwhile, the financial plan of the company approved by the Cabinet of Ministers supposed 11.5 billion hryvnias income ($413,912,025). The proper financial plan was offered by the management of Naftogaz in December 2020. According to the results of the meeting, the work of the supervisory board and management of Naftogaz in 2020 was recognized unsatisfactory,” the message said.

According to the government, due to this fact, on April 28, 2021, the authorities stop of independent members of the supervisory board of Naftogaz and Head Andriy Kobolev.

“Independent members and representatives of the state at the supervisory board of the company will continue to serve until election and appointment of new representatives,” the message said.

The government also made a decision that Yuriy Vitrenko will serve as Head of Naftogaz from April 29, 2021. He faces the task on the systematic increase of Ukrainian gas extraction and assistance in the formation of a full and fair gas market in Ukraine.

Deputy Energy Minister Yuriy M. Boiko was appointed as acting Energy Minister of Ukraine.

In his turn, Head of Naftogaz Andriy Kobolev stated that he was not dismissed during the government’s meeting.

“I learned about the “dismissal” from the news. I cannot comment on it. I did not write any resignation letters,” Kobolev stated on Facebook.

The statute of Naftogaz has a norm that the chairman of the board can be appointed or dismissed only by a general meeting in accordance with the offer of the supervisory board that should be filed on the basis of decisions of the supervisory board on appointment and dismissal of the chairman of the board.

Andriy Kobolev was appointed to Naftogaz's chief office on March 26, 2014.
