The Cabinet of Ministers approved a state programme on the roads security upgrade till 2020. The regulation was adopted at the Wednesday session on April 25, Ukrainski Novyny reported.
The regulation is aimed at the reducing the numbers of traffic accidents and the severity of its’ consequences. It is noted that the government office of traffic safety arrangement will be improved, the traffic security and infrastructure along with the vehicle safety will be increased and the passengers and cargo transport safety by the motor vehicles will be enhanced.
The explanatory note says that the programme will facilitate the mitigation of casualties and victims rate by 30% till 2020 compared with 2016.
Besides, it is expected that this will bring the state’s road traffic indicators to the average European level.
Earlier, it was reported that the decline of the accidents number was noticed within first two months of 2018 compared with the same period in 2017. The representatives of the police consider the commencement of work of the patrol police the main reason the accidents level declined, maximum speed limit to 50 km per hour and other preventive measures.
