Ukrainian government allocates $3,5 million to deal with Ichnia ammo depot explosions

Head of Ukraine’s Government Volodymyr Groysman stated that Ukraine would allocate $3,5 million to eliminate the consequences of the fire at Ichnia ammo depot, which occurred on October 9. Groysman stated this at the Government’s session, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.

“Today, we are going to decide on allocating $3,5 million for restoration works in Chernihiv region. The Region State Administration was entrusted with the tasks on mobilization and building materials, the experts were involved, reserves created,” the Prime Minister noted.

Later, the Government made the relevant decision.

As it was reported earlier, people, who suffered from explosions in Ichnia ammunition depot, are sleeping rough in sports halls in Parafiivka schools. Volunteers are collecting assistance for the victims.

Reportedly, an explosion in the sixth armoury occurred in Ichnia, Chernihiv region. The air-space within 30 km is shut down, traffic and railway movement are stopped due to the emergency situation.  The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region opened a criminal proceeding on the case of explosions on the ammunition depot in Ichnia. 

Over the past four years, it's been the fifth accident with the ammunition stocks in Ukraine exploding; the incidents took place in Balakliya (Kharkiv region), Svatove (Luhansk region) and Kalynivka (Vinnytsia region).
