Russian hackers are suspected of breaking into the German’s government network. Deutsche Welle reported this.

Some sources say that ART28 hacker group managed to break into the network of the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry, inserted malicious programs and stole documents.

Experts are trying to find out how deep hackers got into the governmental network, which is used by German Chancellery, Federal Ministries, Federal Criminal Police Office, Accounts Chamber and special services.

The ART28 group, well known under the name Fancy Bear, is thought to have attacked the internal network of the Bundestag in 2015 when they downloaded around 17 gigabytes of data. Experts believe that ART28 group works under the direction of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Russia.

As we reported earlier, Jeanette Manfra, the Head for Cybersecurity at the Department of Homeland Security, confirmed that Russian hackers penetrated the U.S. election system in 2016.

The European Parliament calls to impose sanctions against Russia due to the Russian hackers’ break-in.

As we reported earlier, Democratic Party leaders during the U.S. elections said they had reasons to believe that Russian special services committed the cyber-attack of the Democratic National Committee network.
