German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said in a recent interview that the EU's current sanctions regime should be lifted if Moscow fully implements the Minsk-2 accords signed in February 2015, aimed at ending the war in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.

"The sanctions will be lifted step-by-step in an effort to bolster the peace process," said Gabriel. He later added that Russia must use its influence on the armed pro-Moscow separatists in the Donbas and the US and EU should influence Kyiv to help de-escalate the conflict.

Minsk hasn’t held and it’s not going to hold, Putin needs a war in Ukraine to protect his popularity ratings. Before sanctions can be lifted Russia must return occupied Donbas & Crimea to Ukraine and make appropriate reparations for damages and loss of life. "EU should influence Kyiv to help de-escalate the conflict." How does a country de-escalate when it has been invaded - what an ass! Zaporozhye, Ukraine
