Ukraine should provide the security of Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia.
David Rakviashvili, the Secretary of National Security Council of Georgia claimed this as Georgia Online reported.
According to Rakviashvili, Georgia expects that Saakashvili will be provided with the proper physical security and his detention is only the inner political process.
‘The events that take place in Kyiv are the inner political processes of Ukraine that we cannot politically comment. At the same time, the former president of Georgia is at the epicenter of these events and it gives a special pressure to the events’, he claimed.
Beka Basilia, the advocate and defense of Saakashvili at the Georgian court did not exclude that former president can be expelled from Ukraine.
‘The actions of the Ukrainian authorities are so illegal that they can extradite Saakashvili to Georgia where a few judicial processes are held against him’, Basilia claimed.
He added that the court of Georgia can give a sentence on Saakashvili case and his detention in Ukraine coincides with the end of the trial in Georgia.
As we reported Saakashvili was detained in the suspicion of the support of the criminal group in the organization of the criminal activity. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, Saakashvili financed the protests to take power for the funds of the allies of Viktor Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine.
Saakashvili succeeded to release from the car of the law enforcers after a few failed attempts to pass him to the SBU. He made for the Ukrainian parliament right after the release.
