Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak will be present at the session of the Trilateral Contact Group on June 5 as 112 Ukraine reported citing President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Brussels.

“Head of the General Staff will work upon our Ukrainian doctrine, according to his work. Tomorrow the first meeting in Minsk Format will take place; by the way, he will be present there. There will be particular offers on the return in Minsk. The first step is the ceasefire, we want to finish it, the prisoners’ exchange and many other points,” Zelensky noted.

He also added that the Ukrainian side in the Trilateral Contact Group will work in the humanitarian direction.

“According to our agreements with Head of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk Leonid Kuchma, we will strongly work in the humanitarian direction, we want to build a bridge soon and it will be situated in Stanytsia Luhanska, implement the possibility of the aid to people, in social mission (to work), there is a decision on the economic direction,” Zelensky added.

Earlier we reported, second president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma will lead the delegation of this country in the Minsk trilateral talks group; he'll represent Ukraine at the session of the group on June 5.

As Zelensky's press office reported, the leader of the state met with the members of the Ukrainian delegation in the Minsk group. The officials discussed the ways to speed up the negotiation process and the necessary steps for that to happen. Among them was Kuchma who stated he would insist on the ceasefire during the harvest time in summer.

Previously, Kuchma withdrew from the Minsk talks group due to his solid age; in August 2018, he had turned 80.
