The decision to call citizens, who completed the training course at military faculty, for military service is not taken yet, it requires more information about contract personnel who want to quit. This was reported during the briefing on January 11 by the Deputy Chief of Personnel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Mark Andrusyak.
"As for such a painful topic that has recently spread in social networks - military recruitment of officers who completed the training course at military faculty. The law ("On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding the improvement of the procedure for undergoing military service," - Ed.) gave the opportunity to exercise the call of officers for military service during specific period, which now continues," Andrusyak said.
He reminded that this provision has been effective since the adoption of the law on military service in 1992 and in the new edition of 2008, and the recent law provides this kind of service in a specific period.
"Citizens of Ukraine, who have completed military training in terms reserve officer training program under the age of 43 years, have not carried out military service and meet health requirements to undergo such military service will be called to it. Presently, the final decision regarding the military recruitment of citizens has not been made yet. The General Staff is ready for such measure. But the final decision will hopefully be made when we see the indicators of resignation of those citizens who use the right to quit their service now according to the law. We would also take into account the projected figures of admission to military service under the contract on the voluntary basis. Then we can make conclusions and take appropriate decisions," colonel said.
He stressed that this category of personnel is fully provided with a social package. All the rules on salary position are also applied to the officers who are carrying out military service.
Is it noteworthy that Mark Andrusyak also said that the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding the improvement of the procedure for undergoing military service" will replace indefinite contracts with military contracts for a specified period and allow some contractors to resign. He suggested that the number of those wishing to leave may be about 10%.
