Prosecutors suspect Leonid Chernovetsky in illegal alienation of land

General Prosecutor’s Office handed over the note of suspicion to the ex-Mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetsky for abuse of power. This was reported by the press service of the office.

“According to the results of the investigation, on Friday, the former Kyiv city Mayor Chernovetsky, according to the procedure provided for in the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, is informed of a suspicion of committing the above-mentioned criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position),” the message says.

It was found out that the former Kyiv Mayor acted in the interests of the unidentified person from the close circle of former President Yanukovych. We are talking about illegal seizure, changing the purpose and renting the most valuable land for the construction of the so-called helicopter place in Kyiv, lowering the rent for the land and, as a consequence, ruining of the site of archaeological heritage. Thus, the territorial community of Kyiv suffered losses for total amount of more than 9 million dollars.

Now the pre-trial investigation in this criminal proceeding is ongoing, measures are being taken to identify other persons involved in the commission of the specified criminal offenses.

As it was reported earlier General Prosecutor’s Office handed in note of suspicion to MP Dobkin. “They said they will not arrest me,” the deputy said.
