“The international judicial cooperation department of the Prosecutor’s General Office started pre-trial investigation on the ex-Chairman of Ukraine’s National Bank and First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Arbuzov, who is charged with power abuse as a member of a criminal organization, which led to embezzlement of the National Bank’s assets in the amount of UAH 220 million ($7,8 million, - ed.),” he said.
According to the Prosecutor General, the case will be passed to the court after the materials are considered.
As it was previously reported, in January 2018, the Prosecutor General's Office announced suspicion to the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and ex-head of the National Bank Serhiy Arbuzov. In particular, the ex-PM is suspected of illegal embezzlement of particularly large volumes of liquefied gas extracted by PJSC Ukrhazvydobuvannya and PJSC Ukrnafta. It is noted that this caused damage to the state in the amount of 77.4 million dollars.
