Gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities now one third less than last year

From October 30 to November 6, natural gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities (UGS) decreased by 1.7%, or by 312 million cubic meters to 17.9 billion cubic meters.This is evidenced by the data of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, Ukrainian News reports.

Now gas reserves are 36.3%, or 10,195 million cubic meters, less compared to reserves on the same date in 2020 (28.095 billion cubic meters).

It is noted that since the beginning of the gas withdrawal season, gas reserves in UGS facilities have decreased by 5.1%, or by 964 million cubic meters. 

Meanwhile, Russia's Gazprom has reduced gas transit to the European Union through Ukraine to 57 million cubic meters per day from November 1.

According to Makohon, Gazprom is constantly reducing gas transit to the European Union.

"Since October 1, transit through Ukraine has dropped to 86 million cubic meters per day. At the same time, Gazprom pays for transit capacity of 109 million cubic meters. With such volumes of transportation, Gazprom will not deliver to the EU by the end of May about 5 billion cubic meters," he wrote.
