Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev urged the Government to liberalize gas supplies for all the consumers categories since April 2019, which will keep gas prices same in May, as Pravda reported.
Kobolev’s letter to the Prime Minister Groysman says that Naftogaz managed to purchase gas in Slovakia for a price $223,5 per 1000 cubic metres. Including the VAT and transportation and delivery expenses, this corresponds to the retail price - $313,2 per 1000 cubic meters.
“Therefore, gas purchase price on the European market appeared to be lower than provided by the current decree of the Cabinet of Ministers on the assignment of special duties for the first time,” the letter says.
Kobolev says that if the companies have an opportunity to choose gas supplier, the market price will be lower than the current regulated price.
Liberalization of gas supply provides cancellation of assignment of special duties regime and removal of restrictions to change gas supplier.
It should be noted that according to the assignment of special duties, gas price for the population has to go up to $371,7 per 1000 cubic metres since May, 2019.
