“We…call on Russia to de-escalate the situation on Ukraine’s borders and in the illegally-annexed Crimea. We reaffirm our support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders including its territorial waters,” the message states.
G7 Ministers noted “Russia’s irresponsible and destabilising behavior” and specified destructive actions of Russia.
“This includes the large build-up of Russian military forces on Ukraine’s borders and in illegally-annexed Crimea, its malign activities aimed at undermining other countries’ democratic systems, its malicious cyber activity, and use of disinformation,” the communiqué states.
At a meeting in London on May 4, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Development of G7 member countries paid special attention to the situation in Ukraine and its relations with Russia.
