The G7 ambassadors called on Ukraine to contribute to the UN Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, which will be held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12 this year. This was stated during the discussion of Ukraine's plans to combat climate change with Environment Minister Roman Abramovsky and Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna.
"The ambassadors called on Ukraine to submit an ambitious 2nd Nationally Determined Contribution for COP26 by the end of July. The ambassadors welcomed Ukraine's pledges to abandon coal and move towards zero CO2 emissions," the statement said.
The G7 countries emphasized the importance of an interdepartmental approach to reform, create conditions for investment and stimulate Ukraine's transition to clean energy.
As we reported earlier, G7 ambassadors met with Viktor Lyashko, Ukraine's Healthcare Minister. During the meeting, the diplomats claimed their readiness to assist Ukraine with the implementation of vaccination program.
