On June 21, fuel spilled from the Delfi tanker that sank off the Odesa coast. Odesa residents were forbidden to swim in the sea. Dumskaya agency reported this with reference to the Department of Municipal Services of Odesa City Council.
It is noted that a large spot formed near the tanker and spread towards the beach with vacationers.
In its turn, the Department of Municipal Services of Odesa City Council reported that specialists had delivered the sorbent to the scene and localized the fuel spill.
In addition, the experts checked the quality of water.
The department also noted that they carried out explanatory work with resting people, as at the moment it is not allowed to swim in the sea.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Healthcare recommended not to swimming on Odesa beaches. Samples of seawater on all beaches of Odesa do not meet the standards for microbiological indicators.
Strong pollution of water and air was also recorded in Odessa near the sunken Delfi tanker. According to preliminary data, environmental indicators are exceeded by 15 times.
