A citizen of Ukraine started shooting at Russian border guards, and during the detention, he fired back and tried to escape, due to which he received injuries of moderate severity. This was reported by Interfax agency with reference to the Russian FSB report.
"Workers of the border department of Russian FSB in Kursk region detained a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen who illegally crossed the state border from Ukraine to the Russian Federation," the FSB press service said.
"During the shootout he received gunshot wounds of moderate severity," the FSB reported.
Federal Security Service of Russia noted that during the detention the man opened fire and made an attempt to hide in the territory of Ukraine.
It is reported that the detainee had two guns, five grenades, 50 cartridges of 5,45 mm caliber and 26 ampules, presumably with mercury.
As it was reported earlier 69 border guards of Ukraine died since the beginning of the armed Donbas conflict. President Petro Poroshenko claimed this at his speech dedicated to 14th anniversary of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Totally 18 000 border guards are involved in the armed conflict and 793 of them got the state awards.
