Officers of Russian FSB together with the police detained a man who they suspect of spying for Ukraine’s intelligence. This was reported to the Interfax by the source in law enforcement body of the region.
According to the source, a Ukrainian citizen of 1990 year f birth was arrested. He is allegedly an agent of the “Spetsreserve” unit of the Chief department of intelligence of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
“He came to Samara region on March 19, 2017 and during 6 hours was collecting information in the area of the railway station in Samara, where he was detained,” the source said.
According to the source, during the questioning, the detainee allegedly “admitted he carried out visual reconnaissance of military and transport infrastructure objects for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine” in the so-called “DNR” and the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
The source said that the “agent” received tasks to gather information about the military facilities of the “DNR” militants, their weapons and military equipment - including in Donetsk and Yasynuvata. Also, allegedly, his task was to photograph and film the facts of Russian military participation in the battles in the Donbas.
The man detained in Samara will be deported to the so-called "DNR", the source said.
Earlier it was reported that FSB arrested two Ukrainians at administrative border with Crimea. Russian FSB claims the detained were earlier issued a wanted notice for committing crimes.
