Google reveals most popular search requests from Ukraine in 2019

Google Ukraine published the most popular requests from Ukrainian users in 2019. These are the top searches of the year, but not by quantity, but by popularity growth. In other words, these are ratings, which include requests that grew the fastest throughout the year and show a surge in user interest in events, persons, topics, and questions. So, the first line in the Ukrainian segment of Google belongs to “Game of Thrones Season 8,” the second most popular request was “Zelensky,” and the third place was taken by “Yulia Nachalova.” Ukrainians were also interested in the election results, why the dollar was falling, and what is the “Steinmeier formula.”

Most people of the year are Ukrainians. Volodymyr Zelensky came in first, replacing his comic stage with the presidency. Russian actress Anastasia Zavorotnyuk (the media reported about the actress’s serious illness) came second. Users also searched for information about Petro Poroshenko, Ihor Smeshko (presidential nominee) and Ihor Kolomoysky.

In addition, Ukrainians were interested in artists MARUV, Potap, and Billy Elish (17-year-old American singer, whose debut album broke Google’s record for downloads).

The list also included Valeriy Legasov (a Soviet nuclear physicist and member of the government commission for the liquidation of the Chornobyl disaster, who became a key character in the Chornobyl series) and TV presenter Alla Mazur.

The traditionally high interest of Ukrainian users is caused by the continuation of films and film comics, such as Avengers: Final, Aquaman, It: Chapter Two, Captain Marvel, and How to Train Your Dragon 3.

Also, the list of the most popular films at the request of the Ukrainian segment of Google included a film adaptation of the historical novel by Ivan Franko “Zakhar Berkut,” the tape “Police Officer from Rublevka.
