Former US Ambassador to NATO, Russia supports Ukraine’s aspiration to join Alliance

The diplomats advised Ukraine not to refuse from its aspirations, while the Alliance will do what was promised in 2008

Former US Ambassador to NATO and Russia Alexander Vershbow said that he supported the idea of Ukraine joining the NATO, as he told Radio Liberty.

“I absolutely continue to support both Georgia’s and Ukraine’s aspirations for NATO,” he said.

The diplomat hopes that Ukraine understands there is a lot to be done in the next 3-4 years to prepare and present itself as a strong candidate.

Vershbow believes Ukraine shouldn’t step back from its biggest ambitions, and sooner or later, the conditions will change, and NATO will do everything that was promised in 2008.
