Former First Deputy of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group Vitold Fokin stated that the politicians and MPs of the Verkhovna Rada who tried to insult him, in fact, insulted all Ukrainians who stand against war as Vesti reported.
According to Fokin, his presence at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee on the organization of the local self-governance was grounded not by norms of the law but only by his inner impulse.
“My presence at this meeting was grounded not by norms of the law (it does not oblige to come to such events, - 112.international) but only by my inner impulse. I would like to explain my position. I hoped sincerely that it will help to specify some moments that caused the discussion due to my phrases which were taken out of the context by mass media. I hoped that I would be heard and understood,” he said.
Besides, Fokin believes that the politicians and MPs who tried to ‘peppered him with stones’, in fact, insulted Ukrainians who stand against the war.
“This story clearly showed who is who. I am grateful to everyone who supported me. I am thankful to the people who showed their nature and true intentions yesterday. You tried to pepper me with stones but hit all citizens of Ukraine. Everyone who stands against the war,” Fokin said.
On September 30, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky officially removed Vitold Fokin from the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Donbas.
Earlier, First Deputy of the Ukrainian delegation Fokin stated that he does not see the evidence of the war between Ukraine and Russia. In his turn, Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov urged the government to send Vitold Fokin off "back to his retirement" so that the official would not represent Ukraine in the Minsk talks group again.
