According to the news agency, Mitsubishi Lancer passed near Lavina mall on the red light and the police started chasing Melnyk and finally stopped the car.
“After the car was stopped the driver tried to escape. He started resisting, did not fulfil legal police officer’s demands, and then punched him (assaulting a police officer was documented by the crime scene investigation team),” the message says.
The news agency also reported that the driver had symptoms of alcoholic intoxication. He refused to take a test on site and went to narcologist.
It was noted that the police has already completed a report on Melnyk in 2014 for drunk driving.
Earlier, Yevgeny Melnyk headed Kharkiv Administrative Police on September 4 in 2015 and resigned in that same year. According to the reports, Melnyk will continue his service in Kyiv Administrative Police.
