Former executive director of Naftogaz exempted from criminal liability, court rules

Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv exempted former executive director of Naftogaz-Ukraine Andriy Pasichnyk from criminal liability. He was accused of illegal influence on ex-Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavičius, as the lawyer of the accused Ivan Vladinov said, Ukrainian News reported.

“Today, (August 8, - ed.) the court granted our motion and released Pasichnyk from criminal liability due to the expiration of statutory limitations,” the lawyer said.

The Court also closed the case against Pasichnyk. The entire text of the court’s decision will be revealed on August 14.

As it was reported, on February 24, 2016, National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) detectives registered criminal proceeding under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on interference in the work of public officials due to the fact that within the period of January 25 – February 1, 2016 Pasichnyk had illegal influence on Abromavičius to hold the post of Deputy Minister. On March 9, charges were pressed against Pasichnyk. In late April, the incitement was sent to the court.
