Oleksandr Shcherba, a staff diplomat and former Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria, is transferring from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Naftogaz team. Scherba himself reported that on his page in Facebook.
"I said goodbye today to the ministry, the threshold of which I once crossed as a 24-year-old boy. I am grateful to everyone with whom I was connected by fate during these 26 years. Including Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who let me go with no hurt feelings. I accepted Yuri Vitrenko's invitation to join the Naftogaz team. I was in classical diplomacy - now I am in energy diplomacy. Thank you for your trust!" , the diplomat wrote.
Shcherba has been in the diplomacy service since March of 1995. He has worked in the embassies of Ukraine in Germany and the United States.
On November 17, 2014, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Austria. The diplomat worked in this position for over 6 years.
On April 28, 2021, Oleksandr Shcherba was dismissed from the post of Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria by a presidential decree.
As it was reported on October 25, a competitive selection for independent members of the Naftogaz Supervisory Board has been announced on the Ministry of Economy website.
On August 8, three independent members of the Naftogaz Supervisory Board resigned, - namely, Lescoeur Bruno Jean Gaston, Ludo Van der Heyden and Spottiswoode Claire Mary Joan.
On September 8, it was reported that at NJSC Naftogaz, three independent members of the supervisory board had resigned due to the incompetence of General Director Yuri Vitrenko.
And at the end of September it became known that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed members of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yulia Kovaliv, Natalia Boyko and Yulia Sviridenko. Thus, the functions of the supervisory board will be performed by the Cabinet.
