Ecosystem fires have resumed in Luhansk region. During the day rescuers extinguished 48 fires. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service in Luhansk region.

"Over the past 24 hours, on April 11, rescuers from Luhansk region made 48 trips to eliminate fires in ecosystems, ignition of dry grass, garbage and reeds on a total area of ​​125.81 hectares. The fires affected Severodonetsk, Svativsky and Starobilsky districts," the statement said.

At the same time, as to reports, according to eyewitnesses, the arsons were intentional.

Earlier, the Luhansk region suffered greatly from fires in the fall of 2020. On October 8, the last fire was extinguished near the village of Smolyanynove of Novoaydar district on an area of ​​4,491 hectares. According to preliminary estimates, the approximate area affected by the fire is more than 20 thousand hectares. 150 people were evacuated during firefighting. Local authorities are estimating the destruction and damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.

Earlier, local police reported 11 deaths from fire.
