Forest fire in Luhansk region: one person died; over 100 houses destroyed

In Luhansk region, 85 hectares of the territory is on fire; the evacuation of the population takes place as the State Emergency Service in Luhansk region reported.

“Due to the fitful wind in the afternoon, a few fireplaces of the forest fires (crown) occurred and they spread over the forest to the residential sector of Vovche and Smolyanynovo villages, Novoaidar area. The evacuation of the citizens of these villages is underway,” the message said.

Besides, it was specified that the fire was localized. No casualties or wounded are reported. The elimination of fire continues.

210 members of personnel and 47 units of equipment work at the site.

Later, the Emergency Service specified that one person died due to the fire and 80 country houses are destroyed.

“Preliminary, one person died and nine hospitalized. The fire destroyed 80 country houses in Vovche village and 30 houses in Smolyanynovo village.”

As of 5:30 p.m., 361 members of the personnel and 85 units of equipment work at the site.

As we reported earlier, on June 21, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine received information about the ignition of forest litter in the Chornobyl exclusion zone.

On June 23, the fire was extinguished.
