The Prosecutor's Office started investigating gas explosion

During the explosion in a cafe in Kharkiv downtown injured foreigners who were indoors. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv region.

Seven people turned for help after the explosion, among them was an Israeli citizen born in 1993, now the injured foreigner is in a state of moderate severity. Another three men were also injured – they are citizens of Lebanon and Turkmenistan, they received help and their condition is satisfactory.

Two other visitors and inhabitants of this house, who were at the entrance when the explosion happened, received help.  Four victims were with face and hands burns and they were taken to the hospital.

The Prosecutor's Office started an investigation on the gas explosion.  In particular, prosecutors are investigating the fact of breach of the legislation on fire safety.

Fire started in the cafe, located in the basement of a five-storey house on Nauky Avenue in Kharkiv late at night on November 30, according to the Head of the local Prosecutor's Office Ekaterina Shevtsova.

According to the preliminary data, the cause of fire was the explosion of a gas cylinder, used for cooking. Fire area is 25 square meters.

Earlier it was reported that OSCE Mission documented more than 500 explosions in Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 19.
