The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns the beginning of issuance of Russian passports to the residents of temporary occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The body will also work on the imposition of respective sanctions, as Interfax-Ukraine reported.  

“Such actions of Russia are judicially negligible, they don’t have any legal consequences and won’t be recognized by the Ukrainian side and the world. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry will continue working with the international partners with the aim to introduce those involved in the process of the so-called “facilitated passportization” of the residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of the sectoral sanctions, and the expansion of international personal sanctions,” the message of the Foreign Ministry reads.

The diplomats stressed that the beginning of issuance of Russian passports to the residents of temporary occupied territories of Ukraine became another confirmation of a severe violation of international law and Ukraine’s state sovereignty by Russia.

Earlier, it was reported, that Russia began issuance of its passports to the residents of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic. 34 people received the documents.
