Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met in Paris with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian. This was reported by the press center of Ukraine’s MFA.
The main attention during the talks was focused on political settlement of the conflict in Donbas.
"The ministers expressed their unanimity on the issue of role of the UN peacekeeping mission and the need for its location throughout the occupied territory of Donbas, the format of which should fit into the logic of the Minsk agreements," the message said.
Le Drian said that France would remain a reliable partner of Ukraine in overcoming current challenges.
Also, Klimkin and Le Drian agreed to hold a cross year of the Ukrainian language in France and the year of the French language in Ukraine in 2018-2019.
As it was reported earlier Ambassador of the French Republic in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont stated that her country intends to continue to help Ukraine in the release of hostages.
"I want to wish you all the best on behalf of France and on behalf of President Macron, to return to your homes and I want to assure that we will continue to work so that all the hostages return home. I also want to assure that we support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, "the ambassador said.
Also, Mrs. Dumont assured that the day of the return of prisoners was as "special" for her, as for many Ukrainians.
