The head of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Minsk, Leonid Kravchuk, said that his deputy for the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Vitold Fokin, expressed his own opinion on granting Donbas a special status, which does not coincide with the position of the government and does not meet national interests. The head of the TCG told about this on the Espresso TV channel.
Leonid Kravchuk also stated that Vitold Fokin did not consult or discuss it with the Ukrainian delegation before sharing his view.
“Does Fokin have the right to talk about his own position? Yes, he does. But if his position does not correspond, for example, to the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, then he cannot make this position public, because he is no longer just Fokin, but he is a deputy chairman of the delegation, a member of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG,” Kravchuk noted.
He also noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky will decide the further fate of Fokine in the negotiations.
"This issue will be discussed at a meeting of our delegation, I think people will express their opinion on this matter. Fokin will explain why he chose this tactics, position, and this is not our decision," he assured.
As we reported before, the statements of the representative of the Ukrainian delegation Vitold Fokin on Donbas do not reflect the official position of Ukraine.
