As a result of intensive snow melting the flooding of the households and roads occurred in Poltava region. Due to this the rescuers were helping the residents to leave the premises and they blocked some parts of the roads, as the press-office of Ukraine’s Emergency Service reported.
The emergency unit of the fourth rescue service saved four people from the private households in Mykylka (Poltava region) on April 1. The houses were flooded as a result of an intensive snow melting. All the houses of the rescued people are located on the Rakhna Street.
The rescuers of the Poltava department of the Emergency Service have pumped out melt-water 52 times in Poltava, Myrhorod, Pyriatyn, Zinkiv, Reshetylivka and in other small towns of the region.
The rescuers informed that they have pumped out 12250 cubic meters of melt-water.
“The 101 Rescue Service received a message at 21”25 on April 1 that as a result of an intensive snow melting a private yard and a basement were flooded in Terny (Poltava region), and a risk of flooding of private houses occurred. The rescuers of the Emergency Service have pumped out 150 cubic meters of water using the hydraulic elevator and the power pump. Two people of the staff of the 18th State Fire and Salvage unit were involved in the rescue operation along with a piece of equipment,” the press-office reported.
It should be mentioned that the pumping works are still being conducted in Poltava region.
It was also reported, that the highway Kyiv – Kharkiv is in water, the wheels of the cars dip into the water entirely. The drivers are warned about the challenging conditions on the roads. The flood covered 177 km of road.
Earlier, the part of Akhtyrka (Sumy region) was flooded because of the spring flood.
