In Ukraine, the situation with the spread of coronavirus is deteriorating. Today, five areas are approaching the red quarantine zone, Chief sanitary doctor of the country Ihor Kuzin reports on air of Hromadske radio.

The areas in question are Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.

"These regions are on the border between the orange and red zones, but the situation there is really tense now. So far, the situation can be contained by deploying extra beds or by new testing mechanisms," Kuzin said.

According to him, the epidemiological situation in Ukraine is expected to deteriorate.

As it was reported earlier, the red quarantine zone is about to be imposed in Kherson region on October 15. The government commission for emergencies made the respective decision.

Cafes, restaurants, theaters and cinema theaters, markets and fitness centers will be closed. Mass events will be banned. However, the restriction will be lifted if 100% of the staff are vaccinated.
