First Ukrainian floating spaceport might be created in Kherson

Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named after A.M. Makarov (Yuzhmash), Dnipro city, initiates the creation of floating platform for missiles’ launches in Ukraine, as Ukrinform reported citing Yuzhmash Director-General Serhy Voit.

“Ukraine does not have its own spaceport, however, only Yuzhmash specializes on the missile production and holds foreign economic with 23 countries, including Europe. We need to have our own spaceport. and it is possible to create it in Kherson region,” Voit stated.

He has added that recently he negotiated with the staff of Kherson State Plant “Pallada,” which produces floating structures (docks) and it expressed the readiness for cooperation and partnership.

“Our engineers were looking for the variants, considered many issues. We need to consider everything as some countries are against us to launch the missiles over them. We decided to make such platform at Kherson State Plant “Pallada” together with “Ukroboronprom” state concern,” Yuzhmash Director-General explained.

Production Association Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant named after A.M. Makarov was created in 1944. It is one of the leaders of the production of the carrier rockets and satellite in Ukraine and it allows the state to provide 8-10% of the launch services for the international companies annually.

As we reported, Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau and Malyshev Factory, the Kharkiv enterprises of “Ukroboronprom” state concern finish the testing of BTR-4 with new hulls within the expansion program of the productions of this hardware for the Ukrainian army. 

Moreover, Kharkiv tank factory upgraded over a hundred of T-64 main battle tanks made in 2017. The number of upgraded T-64s is quite enough to re-arm a tank brigade. The Kharkiv-based company continues to modernize the basic models of T-64s to this new level.
