Leonid Kadenyuk, the first astronaut of independent Ukraine will be buried at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv on February 2 as TSN reported.
‘The farewell ceremony of the first Ukrainian astronaut will be held on February 2. Leonid Kadenyuk will be buried at Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv’, the message said.
As we reported Leonid Kadenyuk died on January 31 at the age of 67. He died during his usual morning run in Tsarske Selo (Pechersk district, Kyiv). According to the mass media, the astronaut died before the arrival of an ambulance.
Leonid Kadenyuk was the first astronaut of independent Ukraine. He joined the country's first space mission in 1995 and later made his flight on NASA's Columbia in 1997, as part of the international mission STS-87. During the flight, Kadenyuk and his counterparts ran biological tests with several kinds of plants.
