"I believe that we must not sit at the table with people who have weapons in their hands. It's not just a philosophy, it's a substantive conversation... I have always said that the first issue of "Minsk" and of all agreements…and in general it's not even about "Minsk" agreement and not in our attitude to "Minsk," and it's not even about what percentage of the population believes in this "Minsk". The key issue is a ceasefire…There is a need to stop shooting in order to talk about something. It's a fact, "Zelensky said.
He noted that "the ceasefire has been in effect in Donbas for seven months (agreement in the Trilateral Contact Group from July 27, 2020 - IF)".
"Yes, there were provocations from that side. There were, of course. There were injuries. But the feeling that we are moving, that we are not losing people - it appeared ... It's about the fact that if it works, then we can try to move further. What’s next? Let's talk more about the withdrawal of troops, then that we have to go inside, very carefully, but we have to be at the border - this is our border. I understand, it's difficult," Zelensky said.
Earlier, on August 5, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that does everything for de-occupation of Donbas and establishment of peace in Ukraine, however 90% of success in this question depend on the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
