According to the message, it took place at the customs office in Chernivtsi region.
“A citizen of Ukraine cleared his car Renault Laguna 2004 with the diesel engine and with German registration plates, paying more than $1,700 to the state budget. Thus, the duty (10%) made $163, the excise tax (concessionary rate with coefficient 0,5) made $1,023 and VAT (20%) made $567,” the message said.
At the same time, the service noted that until November 25, when the law, which provides new rules of the import of the vehicles with foreign registration came into force, was impossible due to the ban for the customs clearance of the cars older than eight years.
On November 23, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law that foresees cutting the excise taxes on the cars with EU license plates. The bill also foresees more control over the movement and the use of cars with foreign registration. The respective statement appeared on the president's official Facebook page.
On November 25, the laws on the reduction of excise taxes on cars, as well as the reinforcement of control over the movement and use of cars with foreign registration came into force.
On July 13, 2018, Verkhovna Rada supported a bill providing for increased responsibility for breaching the rules of car import to Ukraine. The document establishes a single term for sanctions for customs rules breach, - six months since the day of detection of the violation.
On October 22, the Supreme Court of Ukraine recognized the termless use of the cars with the EU license plates imported in the transit mode as legal. Later the State Fiscal Service claimed that the use of the uncustomed cars is still a violation of the law.
