Fire occurs at armament depot in Balakliya: no casualties reported

The fire occurred at the armament depot in Balakliya, Kharkiv region. The source in the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reported this to 112.ua.

According to the source, the fire tank ran over some explosive device during the execution of the technical works.

According to the press service of the General Staff of Ukraine, the dry grass caught fire at 13:55 at the former technical territory of a 65th arsenal in Balakliya. The works on the cleaning and demining of the armaments' debris that did not explode during the previous fire took place and the new fire has begun.

Two fire tanks and the clearing vehicle BMR are used to localize the fire. The personnel that held the work on the cleaning and demining is evacuated.

'Soldiers and the Emergency Service assume the measure to provide the safety for the local', the message said.

As 112 International reported, a series of powerful blasts took place at an ammunition storage facility in Kharkiv region on late March 23. The incident occurred near the town of Balakliya. Many of the locals were evacuated from the town and its vicinities. The fire caused by the blasts was finally extinguished the day after that, by evening of March 24. Numerous casualties and even a fatality were reported.
