Fire in Ukraine's Ichnia completely eliminated

Fire on the 6th ammunition depot of the Defence Ministry in Ichnia, Chernihiv region is completely eliminated, as the press office of the Ministry reports.

“The fire on the territory of the 6th ammunition depot of the Defence Ministry is eliminated completely,” the message says.

As at 9 pm, there were still some explosions on two platforms – 1-2 explosions per hour. They did not pose any threat to the settlements located nearby.

The units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along with State Emergency Service are eliminating the points of origin of fire and afterglow.

The demining groups are clearing the territory from explosive devices.

As it was reported earlier, people, who suffered from explosions in Ichnia ammunition depot, are sleeping rough in sports halls in Parafiivka schools. Volunteers are collecting assistance for the victims.

Reportedly, an explosion in the sixth armoury occurred in Ichnia, Chernihiv region. The air-space within 30 km is shut down, traffic and railway movement are stopped due to the emergency situation.  The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region opened a criminal proceeding on the case of explosions on the ammunition depot in Ichnia. 

Over the past four years, it's been the fifth accident with the ammunition stocks in Ukraine exploding; the incidents took place in Balakliya (Kharkiv region), Svatove (Luhansk region), and Kalynivka (Vinnytsia region).
