Firefighters still cannot extinguish a large-scale fire in warehouses in Kyiv, where plastic, paper and electronics are kept. The fire area has increased to 10,500 square meters. This is stated in the update from the State Emergency Service as of 20:00, as published on the website of the service.

The fire extinguishing conditions are complicated by the fact that there is no external water supply on the site. Therefore, rescuers had to lay trunk lines or bring water.

“There is no external fire water supply on the site, so in order to provide water for fire tankers, firefighters had to lay long-haul lines, but even in those fire hydrants, there is not enough pressure to effectively eliminate the fire”, the message reads.

35 units of the main and special fire-fighting equipment and 137 people from the State Emergency Service are working at the site.

Rescuers also added that the reason for such a large spread of fire was the congestion of rooms with combustible materials and the absence of firebreaks, so the fire spread quickly.

There is no information about the victims. The cause of the fire is being established.
