The fire in the Kemerovo mall occurred on March 25. According to Emergency Service, the flame occurred on the fourth floor, where the cinema and children’s playground are located. The Russian investigation committee considers two versions of the events: a short circuit and an open fire.
According to Russian Emergency Service, 64 people died in the fire, 41 of them were children.
Two days after the fire, hundreds of Kemerovo residents started a protest demanding the authorities to reveal the truth about the people, who died.
The court arrested Yulia Bogdanova, the CEO of the mall, and Tanziliya Komkova, the Head of the Kemerovo State Construction Supervision and Inspection Service. Earlier, Georgiy Sobolyev, the technical director of the mall, Nadiya Suddenok, the head of the mall, Oleksandr Nikitin, the head and the employee in the company which served the fire alarm system in the mall, and the security guard of the mall, who did not turn on the fire alarm were arrested.
