Head of Department of State Guard of Ukraine Valery Heletey claimed that the recent fire in Kalynivka that led to the number of the large-scale explosions was the campaign of the Russian special services. He claimed this at the interview to UNN.
‘The events in Kalynivka are another planned campaign of the Russian special services that aimed for the disruption of the defense capability of Ukraine. There are no results of the check held by the experts, the SBU, the Prosecutor General’s Office yet and it is impossible to name the guilty or to objectively estimate the situation. It is obvious that the security measures did not correspond to the level that we should have in the terms of the hybrid war with Russia’, he said.
According to Heletey, the Ukrainian arsenals are known by the special services of the neighboring country and they always work on these objects.
‘The security measures should be more effective in such conditions. The issue is not only about the human factor or camera that supervise night and day. There should be the special technical equipment that can prevent any attacks, including the drones’, he added.
The Head of Department of State Guard explained that the security system that protects from the drones is one of the most attackable segments that the Ukrainian and foreign special services cannot work out at the adequate level.
‘Unfortunately, there is no technical possibility in Ukraine to completely protect from the drones attacks, to wiretap the control and neutralize them. That is why such topic is a priori so important for us. I personally persuaded that the events in Kalynivka were the subversion towards our defense supply’, he claimed.
The fire and the number of the large-scale explosions at the armament depot in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region took place on the evening of September 26. The evacuation of the local citizens took place due to the emergency and the territory was secured in the strengthened regime by the law enforcement and the rescuers. The Military Prosecutor’s Office opened the criminal proceeding under the article ‘subversion’. Later, it became known that the security of the strategically important object was not at the adequate level. The issue of the removal from the office of Head of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko was raised. The specialized parliamentary committee asked the president to do this.
