Fire extinguishing works continue in Chornobyl exclusion zone, - video

General radiation background in the exclusion zone is within the norm

Rescuers continue fire extinguishing works on the territory of Lubyanske forestry area in Chornobyl exclusion zone. This was reported by the press service of the Emergency Service of Ukraine.

At the moment the fire area reduced from 25 ha to 8 ha.

Emergency Service’s aviation shed down around 124 tons of water.

It total, 36 units of equipment, Mi-8 helicopter, 2 planes and 125 people participated in the works.

There is no threat of fire spreading to other forest areas.

As it was reported earlier Russian media spread lies about 'raised level of radiation' in Chornobyl exclusion zone. Ukraine’s minister of environment and natural resources asks reporters to abstain from spreading such kind of information.
