The possible involvement of Ukreximbank in the financing of terrorism will be investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office, which has already opened the relevant criminal proceeding as Ukrainian News reported.

"Based on the appeals of the MPs of Ukraine, which, among other things, contain a link to a journalistic investigation, the prosecutor of the department of Prosecutor General’s Office on October 19, 2021, put information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the grounds of a criminal offense due to the financial terrorism,” the prosecutor’s office reported.

Investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine are engaged in pre-trial investigation.

By the way, when the journalist of the project Kyrylo Ovsyany at the beginning of October asked then head of Ukreximbank Yevhen Metzger to comment on this information, the film crew was attacked by the employees of the financial institution.

On October 4, reporters of the Schemes project were attacked in the office of Ukreximbank during the interview with the bank’s head Yevhen Metzger in his office. The bank employees used physical force against the Schemes cameraman, took away two cameras from him, and removed the recorded video.

Soon, the journalists of the 'Schemes' project restored the video, which was destroyed by the employees of the financial institution on the orders of its head Yevhen Metzger. The Supervisory Board of the state-owned Ukreximbank announced the start of a check of the reports about attacks on Schemes journalists during an interview with the bank's management.

The President’s Office stood for suspension and dismissal of Yevhen Metzger. In his turn, Metzger wrote that he wrote a letter for suspension for the time of the investigation.

On October 8, Yevhen Metzger was handed charge papers due to the attack on the journalists of the Schemes program. He is suspected of illegal detention of people.

On October 11, Metzger was given a precautionary measure in the form of night house arrest. The same day, he signed the letter of dismissal.
