Today, June 4, a regular meeting of the National Security and Defense Council was held, at which the fight against "thieves in law" after the imposition of sanctions against them and the eviction of people from the state dachas in Pushcha-Vodytsya and Koncha Zaspa were discussed. After the NSDC meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video message in which he spoke in detail about the decisions made.
Thus, the president said that in three weeks suspicions were announced to six "thieves in law", 12 were expelled from Ukraine, the rest are in custody and isolated.
"That is, we managed to achieve virtually zero influence of thieves in law on the crime situation in Ukraine. In addition, after the NSDC sanctions, 11 ethnic crime bosses stopped their criminal influence, a third were expelled from Ukraine, others are under investigation or awaiting expulsion. The rest have their documents for residence in Ukraine canceled," Zelensky added.
The head of state also noted that in the near future the first twenty people, including former ministers, prosecutors general and other officials, will be evicted from state houses.
"I want to emphasize that these twenty people "on the way out" are the first and far from the last," Zelensky said.
He also said that "the most important issue of this meeting, and this week, is the law on oligarchs."
In particular, Zelensky said that he intends to bring the issue of the status of oligarchs in Ukraine to an all-Ukrainian referendum. He stressed that this may be the only issue to be discussed through a referendum.
