The Verkhovna Rada is holding an extraordinary meeting in connection with the fifth anniversary of the beginning of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The session Is broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, who is currently on a visit to Ukraine is attending the meeting. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman take part in the event.
The members of the government, representatives of public associations, union of ATO veterans, Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, representatives of international parliamentary organizations and diplomats were also invited.
As it was reported earlier, Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council is visiting Ukraine on Monday. The official joins the solemn events in Ukraine, as people remember the final days of the Revolution of Dignity that took place in February 2014. The three days, from February 18 till February 20, became the bloodiest period in the history of Euromaidan movement. About a hundred protesters and a dozen of law enforcers deceased and a thousand more were injured in the gruesome street fights that occurred in the downtown Kyiv.
The memory of the fallen protesters is honored annually on these particular days since 2015.
The President of the European Council Donald Tusk highly appreciated the efforts of Ukraine’s leader Petro Poroshenko for implementation of reforms in the state. Donald Tusk is in Ukraine with an official visit on February 18-20.
