In Zaporizhia region, February 5 is announced a mourning day for patients and a doctor who died as a result of the fire in the regional infectious hospital as Zaporizhia regional state administration reported.

“By the order of Chairman of the regional state administration Oleksandr Starukh, February 5, 2021, is declared the mourning day for three patients and a doctor who tragically died as a result of the fire in the regional infectious hospital,” the message says.

The state flags of Ukraine will be flown at half mast at the buildings of the bodies of power, local self-governance, enterprises, establishments and organizations; all entertainment events are canceled, the TV and radio broadcasting programs are changed.

On the night of February 4, the fire occurred in the regional infectious hospital of Zaporizhia. The flame was spotted at the five-storied building at 23:25. The eyewitnesses reported intense smoke; however, a flame was not observed. Four people died as a result of the incident.

Governor of Zaporizhia Oleksandr Starukh specified that the fire started at the intensive care unit at the 20 square meters at the first floor. The employees of the Emergency Service rescued eight people. Evacuated people were transferred to other hospitals. According to the rescuers, four people died and two people were affected.

On January 21, in Kharkiv, the two-story building was caught on fire. It was reequipped for the nursing home. The tragedy resulted in the death of 15 people. Later, an 83-year-old man died in hospice after he was saved in fire at Zoloty Chas (Gold Time) home for elderly people.
