Explosions reported in Lutsk, as hijacker keeps hostages in the bus

Several explosions thundered in downtown Lutsk, where a hijacker has been keeping people hostages in the bus. Local media reported this on Tuesday, July 21.

According to VolynPost, the explosions could be caused by firecrackers, as witnesses observed green flashes in the air, and there was no smoke.  

Meanwhile, National Police spokeswoman Olha Buzuluk claimed that a suspicious item was found at the bus station in the same city. The people were evacuated from the station, and emergency service reached the site. The item appeared to be a piece of computer hardware. The station returned to the normal operation mode.

As we reported earlier, today, on July 21, an unknown man hijacked the suburban bus "Berestechko - Krasnylivka" and took 20 people hostage in the center of Lutsk.

The man who hijacked the bus with passengers on it said that there were a lot of people, including pregnant women and children." The recording of the conversation with "Maksym Plokhoi" was published by Pershyi.

"There are a lot of people, there are children, there are pregnant women. Their condition is our issue now. Let the state take care of it. It cares about people," Maksym Plokhoi stated.

He also threatened to blow up the bus if the police tried to storm it. Plokhoi stated that had planted another explosive in a crowded place and could detonate it remotely.
