In Novoyanosil, Donetsk region, explosions occurred at ammunition depots, according to the press service of the Donetsk Department of the National Police.

According to the preliminary information, a few explosions were heard at ammunition depots at around 4:20 pm. Almost right after the explosions, a fire started.

“Employees of the Nikopol police department went to the sire, as well as the responsible officials from the Donetsk Police, and military prosecution. The law enforcers surrounded the territory, so that people don’t get trapped in the fire,” the message says.

There is no information as to the potential injured as of yet. Novoyanosil is 36 km away from Mariupol, and the ammunition depots belong to one of the military units. The military unit doesn’t fight in the Donbas conflict zone.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense informed that they started evacuating the personnel. It is also said that the fire started in the agricultural fields near the depots.

A department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces says the fire might have been the result of arson. 

30 people who lived in houses nearby were evacuated.
